MISSIONX  SUMMARY JT Faccone | Tasty Travels | JT's DC Video

Throughout Lake Norman, there are thousands of restaurants that all have different foods, atmospheres, service, and prices. A visitor to the Lake Norman area can be totally overwhelmed with the choices and with the items on the menu. For my Mission X project, I decided to interview all of my favorite restaurants and to write reviews about them and put them on a website. I encountered a lot of challenges and struggles. I definitely tasted A LOT of different food dishes.

I used many different website softwares, and they are all completely different! After experimenting with two or three, I finally chose Weebly and stuck with it.

My first restaurant review was definitely the hardest, because I didn’t know exactly how to format the posts, and I spent a lot of time on the look of the website rather than the quality. It took me at least two weeks to finish just the first review, and after that, I decided I needed to work at a faster pace.

The next week, I reviewed three restaurants and wrote all the reviews for them. I also realized that pictures are very important for reviews. I took over one thousand pictures while reviewing these restaurants, but only about thirty of these pictures actually made it. I now have thousands of duplicates of pictures that I will probably never use again.

For Mission X, overall, I think that being a reviewer and journalist are a lot harder jobs than I thought.

X▪T I P

Work on the quality of your work and the writing rather than the look of the website and the photo editing. In the first weeks, I got very behind on the work because I was worrying about how the website looked with the fonts, backgrounds, and pictures. You should write everything you need FIRST, and then worry about the look of it and the rest of it.
