For my project, I created a writing blog called The Tiny Typewriter. It consists of three different types of writing prompts. One of the prompts is called “13 Words.” It is a lot like MadLibs, except instead of filling in the words, I give the readers thirteen words to use in their stories. Some of the words have nothing to do with each other at all, which makes it more fun.

Another one of the prompts is called “Telephone Stories.” It is called this because it was inspired by the game Telephone, a game where a certain word or sentence is whispered through a line of people, and the last person says it out loud. Sometimes it ends up really different than the original word or sentence. For the Telephone Story prompts, I give the readers a paragraph or two from a book. I end it at a cliffhanger moment, and the reader gets to continue the story in their own way.

For the third type of prompt, I come up with short prompts instead of a big activity. This gives my readers a chance to come up with an original story of their own. These specific prompts can also help writers that can’t think of anything to write about. It’s also a really good pasttime.

Please visit my blog and try one of the prompts. Thank you!

While I worked on this blog, I learned that if you have an idea, but you don’t like it, don’t delete it! Write it down and keep it for later. That way, you can go back and read it later, and it might help you come up with a new idea. Don’t give up!
